5x5x5
BIBLE READING PLAN

WHAT IS IT?

God impressed upon the hearts of our Leadership Teams that we need to be reading the Bible together, as a whole church.
We invite you to join us.

We will be using the 5x5x5 reading plan.

The 5x5x5 plan means we read a designated chapter for 5 minutes a day, 5 days a week and use 5 ways to go deeper with that passage. The scripture passages are already chosen and you will receive a bookmark showing these each month to place in your bible (or keep somewhere handy if you read from a device). Each bookmark will have the date and the chapter/s for each day and on the back a reminder of the 5 suggested ways to go deeper. We are working on an easy way for us all to communicate with each other as we journey together through the bible this year as encouragement and feedback are important.

The newsletter will show the upcoming week’s readings and you can find the whole reading plan and the suggested 5 ways of going deeper here – so you will have access to the readings in lots ways.  We pray that God will use this journey together to open our eyes to new revelations in His word. Looking forward to exploring together with you all.

5 WAYS TO GO DEEPER

1. Underline or highlight key words or phrases in the Bible passage.
Use a pen or highlighter to mark new discoveries from the text.
Periodically review your markings to see what God is teaching you.

2. Put it into your own words.
Read the passage or verse slowly, then rewrite each phrase or sentence using your own words.

3. Ask and answer some questions. Questions unlock new discoveries and meanings.
Ask questions about the passage using these words: who, what, why, when, where, or how. Jot down some thoughts on how you would answer these questions.

4. Capture the big idea. God's Word communicates big ideas.
Periodically ask, What's the big idea in this sentence, paragraph, or chapter?

5. Personalize the meaning. When God speaks to us through the Scriptures, we must respond.
A helpful habit is personalizing the Bible through application.
Ask: How can my life be different today as I respond to what I'm reading?

READING TIPS

1.Start reading the Bible today - there is no better time, and there's no reason to wait.

2.Set aside a specific time each day. Set your schedule and then stick to it.
Mornings are great, but feel free to use any time that works consistently for you.

3.Read the Bible for the sake of learning, not simply to accomplish your next reading.
Say a short prayer to God before you begin, asking the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom and understanding, then be refreshed by the words you read!
